TEAMS FROM TWENTY NATIONS FOR AN EDITION THAT PROMISES HIGH-OCTANE EXCITEMENT.
NUMEROUS EVENTS IN THE RALLYLEGEND VILLAGE.
 
Republic of San Marino. Each year, as Rallylegend prepares to get underway, it’s always a challenge to sum up the attendees, content, prestigious names, and dream cars and the same is true this year, as the organisers gear up for the 19th edition.
On 7-10 October, the Republic of San Marino will once again welcome what has become one of the most important events of the year in terms of its spectators, regional promotion, and economic outcome.
But first and foremost, Rallylegend is the event that brings together tens of thousands of passionate enthusiasts from across the world for a unique and unrepeatable four-day event.
 
SO MANY CHAMPIONS, BIG NAMES AND DREAM CARS AT RALLYLEGEND 2021
Rallylegend 2021 has amassed roughly 150 entries to date. And they make for an awe-inspiring list.
From the 1964 Steyr Puch to the latest-generation World Rally Car, the so-called “Plus”, the entire history of racing will be represented in the San Marino specials. Standout vehicles include five Lancia Stratos and seven Audi Quattros, of various types. And to celebrate the B Group, this year’s Rallylegend will also see a good number of Lancia S4, Peugeot 205 T16, Audi Quattro, Ford RS 200 and Metro R4 models.
Team members represent around twenty nations, for a truly global event.
The 1988 and 1989 world rally champion Miki Biasion will line up with an exclusive car, the Hyundai i20 Coupè WRC, or rather the “Plus”, a World Rally star. Daughter Bettina will navigate. The car will mount Michelin tyres and will be Eberhard & Co. branded, the Italian driver having been a Brand Ambassador for the Swiss watchmaker since 2016.
And then there is Irish driver Craig Breen, one of the protagonists of World Rally, who returns to Rallylegend having immediately fallen in love with the event. He’ll be at the wheel of a 90s World Rally Car, alongside navigator Tamara Molinaro, who is also an accomplished driver as well as Breen’s girlfriend.
Three-time world champion Loris Capirossi, one of the best loved motorcycle champions of all time as well as a rallying enthusiast, will be driving a Michelin-branded, latest-generation Skoda Fabia R5 in San Marino, while the many fans are also keen to see the return of Gigi Galli, the last Italian driver to wear ‘official’ World Rally colours. He will be at the wheel of the powerful rallycross Kia Rio RX.
Francois Delecour will pilot a Ford Sierra Rs Cosworth 4X4 with Q8 livery, the same that “adorned” the factory car with which he was on the verge of winning the 1991 Montecarlo rally, before he ran off the road due to a technical problem.
And let’s not forget multi-titled Italian rally champion Franco Cunico, who will be back with his Subaru Impreza WRC, while Tony Fassina will line up with the unforgettable white Lancia Stratos with which he won the 1979 Sanremo world rally as a privateer.
Another highlight of Rallylegend 2021 will see Maurizio Verini, one of the great drivers of the 70s, back behind the wheel of the Fiat 124 Abarth with which he lifted the 1975 European Rally Championship title. He will only drive on Saturday, greeting the public during “The Legend” stage.
We will also see Michele Cinotto back in his suit and helmet, as he pairs up once again with Emilio Radaelli in the group 4 Audi Quattro with official livery, the same car with which the then 22-year old came to the attention of World Rally, leading one stage of the 1981 Sanremo rally.
Two more stars from the 1980s will return to Rallylegend, namely 1982 Italian champion Tonino Tognana, together with Massimo De Antoni, who will line up with a group 2 Opel Ascona 1.9 and Federico Ormezzano, who will put on a show with the legendary Talbot Lotus, a car with which he was always able offer high level performances.
Uruguayan legend and multi-titled Production world rally champion Gustavo Trelles didn’t want to miss out on Rallylegend either. Alongside his trusted navigator Jorge Del Buono, he’ll be at the wheel of the group A Subaru Legacy.
The beautiful white and blue Lancia Stratos with original sponsors belonging to Pierfelice Filippi and Gianpaolo De Mela will rumble back into Rallylegend, celebrating the victory of the Italian team in the 1981 TRN finals.
And the long list doesn’t end there. More big names include Simone Campedelli, one of the fastest Italian drivers of recent years and a frontrunner in the biggest Italian championships, who promises to entertain aboard the BMW M3; Ray Breen, father of Craig, he too a former Irish rally champion, and showman Paolo Diana, always spectacular in the souped-up Fiat 131 Racing. In a gesture of sportsmanship and friendship, he has invited Martin Passenbrunner to read the notes, the latter having navigated for the late Christof Klausner, who died in a road accident in August and was a regular guest at Rallylegend with his Audi Quattro. Klausner will be remembered with a series of initiatives.
Let’s not forget Chantal Galli, an Italian rally champion in the 80s, who is set to drive a Lancia Delta 16V, Carlo Falcone, with the beautiful Ford Focus WRC, Marco Gramenzi, in attendance with his Lancia Delta S4, Frank Kelly, ready to entertain with the Ford Escort RS, Giorgio Mela, at the wheel of the fantastic Audi Quattro S1 E2 Pikes Peak, Giacomo Ogliari, with the rare Mitsubishi Lancer Evo CP9A, and the Danish Poulsen trio – Ole, Roland and Kristian – with three wonderful vehicles, the Hyundai i20 WRC Plus, a Toyota Corolla WRC and a Skoda Fabia R5.
As at every edition, a significant number of proud San Marino teams will also take part, always faring well in the final Rallylegend standings. These drivers include Loris Baldacci, with the “evergreen” Enzo Zafferani, back with the Porsche 911 SC, then Marcello Colombini, with the BMW M3, and Stefano Rosati, with Sergio Toccaceli and the Talbot Lotus, while Stefano Valli, a driver who has seen success on track, will line up with a Peugeot 207 S2000. Paolo Valli, President of FAMS (San Marino Motoring Federation) will take part as always, driving his Lancia Delta S4.
 
RALLYLEGEND HERITAGE, VINTAGE VEHICLES FOR REFINED PALATES
A Rallylegend regularity race will see the participation of around fifteen select and original vehicles, technically and aesthetically identical to when they used to race, and win, in the 60s, 70s and 80s. A collection of  real four-wheeled gems, ranging from the 1969 Triumph TR6 to the 1982 group B Opel Manta 400, by way of Lancia Stratos, Fiat 131 Abarth, Opel Ascona, BMW 2002, Porsche 911, Opel Kadett GTE, Lancia Fulvia, Ford Escort and A112 Abarth models.
 
THE RALLYLEGEND PROGRAMME: THE RALLY
Within Rallylegend 2021, the rally will get underway on Friday 8 October, at 7.45 pm, with a new special stage, the San Marino (6.600 km), longer than usual and to be repeated twice, the evocative Regrouping in the historic centre of San Marino taking place in between.
The action continues on Saturday 9 October, the cars starting out from the Village at 1.30 pm and making a loop of three special stages, to be repeated twice - I Laghi (3.900 km), La Casa (9.580 km), The Legend (4.380 km), with a Regrouping at the Stadium.
The event will come to an end on Sunday 10 October, with two laps of The Legend (4.380 km) and final arrival in Rallylegend Village at 1.00 pm.
 
RALLYLEGEND VILLAGE: MEETINGS, INTERVIEWS AND ENTERTAINMENT.
The entire event revolves around the Rallylegend Village. Now even bigger and even more engaging with a multitude of activities set to take place.
Rallylegend 2021 will get underway on Thursday 7 October at 3.30 pm CET with the Opening Press Conference on the Starting Stage.
And then, at the Sparco stand, the presentation of the Delta S4 Triflux. A real exclusive in the shape of a previously unseen 1986 Lancia S4 complete with Triflux engine, a technical evolution of the volumetric compressor but one that was never used in a race.
Another unique event will play out on Thursday afternoon, or rather “Group A Best Impreza”, the “super” Group A Subaru Impreza, part of a unique project by Best Engineering. Piero Liatti will be in attendance.
An Opening Party is then on the schedule, taking place at the San Marino Outlet Experience, a new Rallylegend partner.
At 7.00 pm it’s time for the Legend Parade, where all the top drivers in attendance at Rallylegend will be presented on the starting stage.
On Friday 8 October, at 3.00 pm, an autograph session will be held at the Eberhard & Co. stand with Miki Biasion.
And then comes the presentation of two books, during two separate events.
“Quei rally con il cavallino” with Tonino Tognana, Michele Cinotto, Miki Biasion, Gabriele Noberasco, Federico Ormezzano, and Franco Cunico.
“Lancia Rally Gruppo B” by Sergio Remondino and Sergio Limone, the authors joined by Cesare Fiorio and Miki Biasion.
At 7.00 pm, the first stage of the rally gets underway with all teams at this 19th edition of Rallylegend taking to the stage.
Saturday 9 October will begin with an autograph session with all the Rallylegend champions at the Sparco stand.
At 11.00 am “We are history, 1981-2021”, stories and anecdotes with Miki Biasion, Tony Fassina, Michele Cinotto, Federico Ormezzano, Tonino Tognana and Maurizio Verini.
